Frames and borders can appear for reasons such as:
To avoid: adjust the prompt wording (like "borderless" or "close-up"), check aspect ratio, or try negating if all else fails: --no interior decor, product shot or --no border, frame.
Panels and Splits can show up for similar reasons, and seem to be more common in V7. To avoid, make sure your prompt has a clear grammatical structure and avoid using list-like formats. Add more descriptive details to create a cohesive narrative

Usually, something in the prompt makes Midjourney think you're asking for the art object itself (like a painting). Experiment by changing your word choice and/or word position for any terms that could be interpreted as art objects. If all else fails, try adding interior decor::-0.3 to the beginning of the prompt.
✅ Example: wording that encourages a full-bleed image.
a borderless pastel drawing of a unicorn in a ginkgo forest background

❌ Example: wording that may produce framed art on a wall.
an art piece with a unicorn

This typically occurs when an image reference has a different aspect ratio than the aspect ratio of its output. But if you're not using an image reference, try adding a scan of to the front of the prompt, or add scanned to the end of the prompt. You can add borderless to the end of the prompt, or even close-up. Alternatively, try describing the background that you want.
✅ Example: wording that encourages a full-bleed image.
a unicorn surrounded by a vast ginkgo forest, abstract oil painting --no border, frame

❌ Example: wording that encourages isolated art (space around it).
a drawing of a unicorn in a ginkgo forest, on beige paper

Note: panels and split images seem to be more common in V7.
Panels are more likely to appear:
Splits can also occur when the prompt is list-like or "word salad". Try adding more grammatical structure to the prompt to see if that effects any change. For example, a prompt like Artist's studio, houseplants, window, afternoon is more likely to have panels than Artist's studio, houseplants on the windowsill, afternoon atmosphere. Look for "lists" in your prompt and fix them.
✅ Example: wording that helps create a cohesive single image.
in a dark ginkgo forest, a unicorn stands in a clearing with sunlight streaming down on her. the unicorn is on the left, and next to her on the right is a large butterfly. detailed comicbook illustration style.

❌ Example: wording that tends to produce split images (even moreso in V7).
comic book panel: a unicorn on the left. a butterfly on the right
